The Green Calendar

April 18, 2012

I’m constantly on the prowl for free webinars and educational opportunities to expand my knowledge about sustainability.  Next week, the Sustainability Learning Centre is hosting a FREE webinar, “From Me to We—Five Transformational Commitments Required to Transform the Planet, Your Organization, and Your Life”.  The presenter is Bob Doppelt, executive director of the non-partisan The Resource Innovation Group.  Mr. Doppelt challenges his audience to view climate change and sustainability in a broader context of ecological and social relationships that “we” are all dependent upon.  The Sustainability Learning Centre is a Canadian-based training organization which focuses on green core competencies development for sustainability professionals.

There’s an April 22, Earth Day event nearly everywhere around the world, and green teams can get on the bandwagon or mobilize their own and help reach the goal of a billion acts of green.  Earth Day’s website is chock full of ideas and resources.  It’s not too late to make an impact this year.

Upcoming on Green Festivals’ events is New York, April 21-22 at the Javits Center North with 125 speakers and 300 exhibitors.  Chicago’s festival will be held on May 5-6 at the Navy Pier.  Check the calendar for where other festivals will be held this year. Green Festivals are great learning opportunities and are sure to inspire.  Ticket prices are very affordable and even cheaper online--$10 for a day pass to $49 for the weekend fan pass with loads of extras.

There’s still time if you live in California, especially northern California, to attend the sixth annual Green Summit, set for April 26-27 in Sacramento.  The exhibits are free and the fees are reasonable to attend conference seminars.  I attend every year and always take away good info on new products, services, and trends.  If you miss the Sacramento event, there’s another in Southern California in September.
